I am still 11 days behind on my Less 365 project. Most of it is due to long hours and overall exhaustion, and the rest because I’ve been playing Draw Something. Here are some of my better ones.

(I’ll be 14 more days behind since I’ll be going on vacation tomorrow.)

hiatus (ish)

I’ve been keeping an online diary in one form or another since 1998. I’ve had the domain chasethestars.com since 2002. The archive in its current iteration here goes back to 2009.

Sometimes I’m not sure why I do this, sometimes it feels like a chore. Maybe it’s OCD that I want to document every event of my life, but do I really need to keep it all in one place? Most Tumblrs I’ve seen are specific - either in subject or medium or both.

I’ve been thinking about making a new one, of just stacey in sketches-type posts, and keeping photos to Facebook only. Take away the personal details, have it more generic and relatable like my writing back in the old LiveJournal days.

And then other times, I do want to have everything in one place for completeness. I don’t know. What do you think?

oh hello (again) Tumblr

Posterous handles photosets/galleries better (doesn’t limit to 10 images per) and is more elegant overall, but they’re still lacking Javascript support in layouts and I’ve been wanting to use jQuery Masonry for a long while now. They also don’t have the same community that is on Tumblr. So over the last week, I’ve been moving my blog back here—manually importing in entries and readjusting my theme. All that’s left now is for chasethestars.com to propagate and to point any links in entries to their new locations.

v point oh two

On Saturday, I updated my blog layout. The old one was temporary, hastily thrown together. This one is a step closer to what I want—different types of posts now have a dedicated icon in the header. Eventually, the entire post will look different. So far, this only applies to artwriting, and posts with photos. More will be added… when I get around to it.

Using AJAX, comments will load on the same page now. I also figured out the Posterous favoriting icon, though I’d like a way to display it in a non-hover state. My FB Likes button seems to have sorted itself out as well and displays the correct count now.

For the past few weeks, I was thinking about switching to Tumblr, posting original work rather than just reblogging. The advantage being more people with similar interests. But what it comes down to is that I don’t want my stuff reposted without credit, and Posterous is far superior for what I want to do in terms of layout, so I’ll be sticking around here.

I decided to give this painting thing a try again. Still haven’t read any tutorials, but I think it came out better than last time. So I turned it into a collectives splash page, flash back to 2002.

p.s. oh hello Posterous; I’ve just moved in.
