When you were a kid, did you ever shade a piece of paper in every color of crayon you had, then cover it in a layer of black so you could carve in cool designs that would appear in a multitude of colors? That's how I feel now, the top layer peeling away and colors showing through in the shape of a still-to-be-defined me.
We had a visiting Brit today, which means a day of bar hopping (Lower Haight -> Union Square -> SoMa). I thought I would try an experiment of sketching each drink I had as I drank it, with each drawing ending up progressively sloppier. This is the result. I didn’t actually have that many; next time I should draw the boys’ drinks.

Quick bday sketch. Celebrated with friends on MLK Monday with sushi, a birthday shooter (in lieu of bottomless mimosas), and chocolate mousse cake; mani/pedi; and more drinks later. Then today with work at lunch; and with Rich tonight, continuing our prefixe birthday dinner tradition.
Mayday Parade with We Are the In Crowd, You Me At Six, There For Tomorrow, and THE MAKE

I was a Moogle for Halloween this year; kupo! It was like when I was Faith from Mirror’s Edge a couple of years ago—those who got it really appreciated it and those who didn’t were left slightly confused.
We had an event for the kids at work before our usual happy hour. It was dark out by the time I was leaving, and I was standing in front of the shuttle talking to a friend of mine when a security guard came out and started telling me that I couldn’t be out there before he realized I wasn’t a kid. To be fair, his initial view of me was of my back…
The SF Urban Zipline is back, and we rode it last Friday. It was fun, and I’m ready for a longer one, in nature.
Photo *borrowed* from All Eyes.
We saw Owl City at The Warfield on Tuesday. Next time, we’re getting floor seats.
On the left is the drawing I did 11 years ago of/for Dan with crayon and Sharpie outlines. It was mostly based off of Trunks from Dragon Ball Z. Actually, I think it is Trunks, but blonde. So here’s a new drawing to go with his FB status from Friday. Also, it’s his birthday.
Yesterday, Janine and I rode horses for the first time. She had Courage, I had Beamer. We fed and brushed them and learned the basics. It was really easy to pick up, and then we were on the trail for a nice long ride. I want to do this again. Thank you Julian, Laurel, and Jordan of Isabella Farms for an amazing afternoon!
I did fall off… at the very end… while getting off my horse. It was pretty embarrassing, but only 2 people saw. (and now the internets knows)
I might clean this up and color it later.
Nicole and I went to see A Rocket to the Moon, Anarbor, Valencia, and Runner Runner at Bottom of the Hill the other night. Not counting SxSW, I haven’t been to a small venue in forever; I totally forgot how awesome it is. Go Radio was supposed to be there too, but they couldn’t make it. We’ll just have to catch them next time.
Quick drawing of Amie and her mismatched socks on the last night of her visit. I don’t think I quite captured her though.
We got an early start on Saturday and spent 6 hours exploring Valley of Fire before dinner and the show. My thighs are killing me now, but it’s so worth it. There was just the four of us—gorgeous scenery all around, no one else off-trail. It was so tranquil and natural, the opposite of my usual Vegas trips.
