When you were a kid, did you ever shade a piece of paper in every color of crayon you had, then cover it in a layer of black so you could carve in cool designs that would appear in a multitude of colors? That's how I feel now, the top layer peeling away and colors showing through in the shape of a still-to-be-defined me.
I am still 11 days behind on my Less 365 project. Most of it is due to long hours and overall exhaustion, and the rest because I’ve been playing Draw Something. Here are some of my better ones.
(I’ll be 14 more days behind since I’ll be going on vacation tomorrow.)

You know how some games have a difficulty setting? I need one that compensates for my inability to triple jump or land in the right spot. I think at least a third of my play time so far has been redoing parts of the level because I keep falling into a pretty mess of butterflies. This is why I prefer RPGs.

We had a visiting Brit today, which means a day of bar hopping (Lower Haight -> Union Square -> SoMa). I thought I would try an experiment of sketching each drink I had as I drank it, with each drawing ending up progressively sloppier. This is the result. I didn’t actually have that many; next time I should draw the boys’ drinks.

I signed up for The Sketchbook Project early this year, with the intent of finishing well before the deadline of January 31st. I received my book in July and procrastinated until December before even starting it, with a different concept than my original vision. I could have finished the remaining pages before mailing it back last week, but fell behind when other activities consumed my time. Still, I did make more progress than last year. Next year will be the year I fully finish a sketchbook.
A week and a half ago, I donated blood for the first time. It didn’t go so well… I was so tense, especially when the tube was over my arm and I could feel my warm blood rushing through it. Then it stopped. There was a clot in my vein and blood wasn’t coming out of it anymore. The technician kept jabbing the needle around, trying to get more, but all it resulted in is a fat bruise that still hasn’t healed yet. All I donated was half a pint of blood. I want to help save a life, but I’m not sure I could do this again.

Quick bday sketch. Celebrated with friends on MLK Monday with sushi, a birthday shooter (in lieu of bottomless mimosas), and chocolate mousse cake; mani/pedi; and more drinks later. Then today with work at lunch; and with Rich tonight, continuing our prefixe birthday dinner tradition.
Quiet NYE at home this year, with a window-view of some fireworks.

New year, new blog. Same goal: draw more. p.s. This was drawn on an iPad. It was more difficult than I thought it would be.
Other resolutions for 2012:
eat better
have less stuff - project #less365
learn more - master jQuery and Cantonese
dress better - starting with Fridays, wear something other than tshirts and jeans
travel more - go to at least 5 places, with at least 3 of them being first-time visits
